Sarah Burke is a multi-lingual, multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriter, visual artist, model, and educator based in New Orleans. She loves her family and her little blind dog Frida. And naps and snacks.

Born in Baton Rouge, raised in New Orleans, and now residing in love in Acadiana, Sarah is fully versed in the rich nuances and challenging contradictions of life in south Louisiana. Her experiences have fueled her search for a truth in living beyond static ideals and in the necessity of creating beauty beyond mere necessity.

As a teenager inspired by the songs of Joni Mitchell, Bill Callahan, José Gonzáles, and Ilene Woods, Sarah taught herself to sing as well as to play numerous instruments, and has since become known in local circles for her captivating vocal performances accompanied by her guitar or harp. She has toured extensively throughout North America and yet has remained one of New Orleans’ best-kept musical secrets for years.

Her music is deeply personal and filled with self-reflection on her own points of hope, despair, loathing, and love, but through that act it takes on a quality that is wholly and vividly relatable. It is certainly transportive, perhaps even spiritual, and in either case far more than the sum of its parts.

Always moved by various forms of visual art, Sarah has lately flourished with her digital art and graphic design practice in personal and professional projects. She is sought-after for her show posters and portraiture work, has illustrated several books, and has a series of children’s books of her own in progress. At the same time, she thrives on the other side of the lens as a professional model with recent work appearing in Gambit and Vogue.

Sarah is also an educator specializing in music education, early childhood development, and teaching individuals with adaptive needs. For the last decade, she has worked with numerous schools and organizations and spearheaded award-winning programs that have made an impact on thousands of families across the state.

She studied French through high school and became comfortably fluent after spending a year of immersion in French Canada on merit. She is also fluent in American Sign Language and baby sign language.

Sarah is excited when her work allows her to meet new people, engage with new ideas, and travel to new places. She and her fiancé have recently traveled to Japan, France, and England, and are daydreaming about their next adventure.
